FIP Warrior:

Zeus

Sadly, Zeus (our beautiful 2-year-old Maine Coon) was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) recently. As you all know It is fatal if not treated

😿

He was in and out of the Veterinary Surgery for over a month prior to the diagnosis with a raging temperature which could not be cure by repeated course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. He had to have an IV drip twice to rehydrate him. He stopped eating and playing and lost 1.5kg in 3 weeks. Nothing worked.FIP can manifest itself in many ways depending on the affected organ. In his case FIP has crossed the blood brain barrier. His primary symptoms include central nervous system issues. Ataxia: weakness in back legs especially inability to jump fully without hesitation lack of coordination so he keeps bumping into things and dragging his legs everywhere instead of walking.Zeus, a kitty who once used to visit parks and gardens with us can't even walk to the next room now

😿

Recently, he couldn't eat his food standing up so had to lay down and eat

😿

The good news is there is a treatment licensed here in the UK which was not available as little as 2 years ago. It is the antiviral GS-441524. The bad news is that it is horrendously expensive. We are on Day 7 of treatment and have 77 Days to go.We have had to set up a gofunding page to support his treatment. Please donate and share with your friends if you can. I promise to donate any unused funds after completing the treatment to another cat in need
