FIP Warrior:

Theo

Theo was brought to me to foster after being rescued at 4 weeks old, in May of 2020 and walked into my heart that same day.. At 8 weeks old he was diagnosed with a red blood cell autoimmune deficiency and for the next 7 months he was ill with various Calici eruptions, high fevers, lack of appetite or vomiting and lived in the edge of anemia and would “crash” frequently. In February he began running a high fever and his weight dropped to just under 4 pounds in 2 weeks and he crashed hard.. almost dead from anemia, weight loss, high fevers and dehydration, he was finally diagnosed with dry FIP in early March, and sent home to spend his last weekend.. a euthanasia appointment was set on a Friday morning for the following Monday and I wasn’t ready to accept the final diagnoses outcome .. that same day, I contacted the Warriors group, was gifted 3 precious vials of the medication and Theo started on Saturday ..by Monday morning, the euthanasia appointment was cancelled as Theo was turning around .. within 4 days his fevers were gone, he went from syringe feeding to eating on his own within 10 days and was eating enough on his own by day 14 to ditch the syringe.. the next 3 months became the most amazing journey and experience of my life. I have been in rescue for 45 years and I still remember every kitten or cat who either died from, or was euthanized for FIP. I remember the times when whole sections in the shelters and pounds would be euthanized because 1 kitty developed FIP.. To watch my baby boy turn around and begin to shine and thrive was miraculous.. 7 months later, in September 2021, from his first injection, Theo was called “cured”.. I cried when I heard the good news and watching Theo find his healthy self and personality has been the best gift I could ever have asked for.. Theo still struggles with anemia and is on lifetime iron and B-12.. but he is warrior through and through and from taking a chance on a relatively new treatment to a healthy, happy, thriving little man has been a huge blessing ..
