View All FIP WarriorsRegina was one of five kittens born to my foster cat. Mama cat was Felv+ so it was no surprise that her babies tested positive as well. But they were all healthy and were put up for adoption.
Regina was sweet and spunky. A little ball of energy. When she was about 5 months old I noticed her belly swelling. She wasn’t eating well or playing. The shelter I fostered for diagnosed her with FIP. I was heartbroken because I had been told that no cure existed for this horrible disease. We had already lost her precious little brother to FIP and I was devastated to lose another kitten. However, one of the vet techs there told me about a drug called GS that was not available at vets’ offices but directed me to a Facebook page called FIP
Warriors. When I got home I immediately joined it and the next day was able to get a vial of the GS for my little Regina.
After her third shot, Regina started eating again. A few days later she was playing and her belly started to shrink. Regina had her 84th shot on New Years Eve. I was terrified that she would relapse. After all she was FeLV+ and nobody really knew whether a “felvie” could ever recover from FIP. She was certainly more vulnerable to FIP because of her felv+ status.
But recover she did, and she has now passed the 84th day of her post treatment period. She is once again a little ball of energy. And I am so proud of my little warrior princess!
