View All FIP WarriorsOur FIP story started with another kitten named Lukas, a beautiful lynx point Siamese who I purchased from a breeder in June 2019. He got sick and died before he turned 6 months old. I didn't know anything about FIP then, it was mentioned in differential diagnosis, but I was told that there was no cure. Later with my membership of different cat groups I heard about the black market medicine that cures FIP. I got Obi in late October 2019 from the same breeder. Questioned her about chances of having another kitten with FIP. Obi had a different mother but the same father. She said that father had never had an FIP kitten. But she did recommend that I fly out to pick him up to decrease the stress on the kitten, which I did.....so fast forward to March 1, 2021. At 20 months old Obi is gaining weight despite my feeding him very carefully (he lives to eat) and I suddenly realized that he was getting sick. He was starting to look at his food with less interest and crouching down with his full belly visible. It was a Sunday and I found FIP Warriors (after visiting both copycat sites) and connected with several wonderful people who then connected me with an administrator. The next morning I made an emergency visit appointment with one of my vets who could do an ultrasound and asked for labs also. She agreed with me that he had wet FIP. Next comes the rush to get medicine, anxiety over how to do this, etc. As a retired nurse I was comfortable dealing with syringes and needles but soon discovered I would need help. Luckily a neighbor cat loving man, also retired, committed to helping me every afternoon. We did best with a restraint quilt. Obi lost the fluid in his belly between day 6-9, he was eating well right away. Obi got 43 days of Lucky 15 and 41 days of Lucky pills and has had no relapses during or after observation. He was "cured" on August 19th 2021. I think I caught him early because of my experience with Lukas. I look back now and realize that he wasn't totally healthy even before that because he wouldn't run around to chase laser pointer or balls then, now he zooms around. Thanks for reading our story!
