Hello, our names are Meagan and Kris. We are the parents of 3 crazy cats and one blue and gold macaw. The picture you are seeing is of our oldest and first cat Misty (age 6). Misty's favorite activities are stealing human food, stealing my pillow at night and patiently waiting by the door for us to get home every day. A couple of weeks ago we noticed Misty was acting lethargic and was not eating. After some blood work, and a couple of vet visits, the vet concluded she had a bacterial infection. A few days ago, she completed her round of antibiotics and to our surprise was still not herself. Desperate for answers we drove an hour away to an animal hospital where she was diagnosed with wet FIP. Although Misty pranced around the room with her tail held high, the doctor only gave her days to weeks to live. Our animals are our whole world so as you can imagine, our world came crashing down.
FIP was almost always fatal until recently. There is a treatment out there that will possibly cure our sweet girl. Misty is a fighter and despite being terribly ill we can see she's not ready to give up. We cannot imagine our little family without our Misty. Kris and I are both college students. I am a full time dental hygiene student who due to my rigorous course load is unable to work. Kris put off returning to school in order to support us financially, working full time at a restaurant. We started Misty's treatment but are struggling to figure out how we can continue to treat her. We are uncomfortable asking for help because we know these animals are solely our responsibility, but we are desperate for help in order to give Misty her 9 lives she deserves!
Thank you for taking the time to read Misty's story and thank you for helping our furfamily❤️
