Kubo was diagnosed with FIP on 21 April 2020 aged 1 and a half years old, at first we accepted that this was the end of our journey with Kubo, and he was expected to live about a week. A week later and he was still fighting and holding on, and I just could not come to terms with not being able to fight for him the way he was fighting for himself.
I came across Dr Pederson's study that was conducted using an experimental treatment for FIP, that had great success. I looked for more evidence and I managed to connect with a veterinarian, who supported the treatment, near my home in South Africa.
A kind soul whose cat is also currently on treatment, and seeing the same veterinarian, was willing to sell us some of their cat's treatment, so we started day 1 on 30 April 2020.
Currently Kubo is on a brand of injections called Capella and it costs 90 USD per vial and costs 150 USD to ship to SA and has a 25 USD handling fee. Any help we can get to fund his treatment will be greatly appreciated.
07/22/2020 Update: Kubo has completed 12 weeks of treatment and.is now in the 84 day observation period.
