FIP Warrior:

Italia and Banana

We are a small rescue. We have 2 FIP kittens.  At the time we got them, they were probably in the last week of their lives:

Italia was a 6 months old female, with wet FIP.
She had the following symptoms:
Distended abdomen, Not eating, dehydrated, drinking lots of water, problem moving, did not sleep the first few days.

Banana was a 4 month old male with dry FIP with neurological issues.
He had the following symptoms:
Could not stand up, fell over when he tried to walk, could not get into litter box, vomited after eating, drooled, could not eat properly, would lick food up his nose.

They are now around day 30 of treatment (We got Banana 4 days after we got Italia).

We started them on injections immediately.
We have had to swap meds from Mutian injectible, to Blossom, Shire, Mutian tablets, due to unavailability!
We are now hoping and praying our order of Shire gets here in time before we run out again in a few days.

When Italia was on Blossom, she started declining and presented with high fever and no appetite, so we switched to shire and increased her dose to that of dry FIP with neurological symptoms, and she started responding.

After 17 days on the meds, Italia’s belly went down 2 inches, is extremely active, playing and eating.
Banana is responding more slowly as expected.  He has stopped vomiting and has gained 1.5 pounds  and is slowly getting better, movement wise.

Obviously we have the same concern as others, we are out of funds and are struggling to get enough money to continue the treatment, with the added anxiety of not having enough supply to finish their treatment.  Add to that the entire “flying in the dark” nature of this entire process.
We are doing our best and hoping for the best.
