Dave was diagnosed with FIP at the start of October 2021, he had been extremely sick for weeks prior to diagnosis. He was extremely weak, sleepy, couldn’t eat, play or groom, he was just wasting away.
Numerous visits to the vets, 2 courses of antibiotics and various blood tests and still no improvement. After seeing a different vet he was diagnosed with FIP, we were told there’s nothing that can be done and the kindest thing would be to put him to sleep. This poor boy was only 9 months old, how could he be losing his life?! He was booked in to be euthanized the following morning, I broke the news to my little girls who were completely heartbroken, they begged me not to let him die.
I spent the night researching and found that there was a chance but it was expensive and as a single parent money was already very tight. Dave was so young and I had to try to save him, we begged, borrowed and used all our savings and my girls even sold their games console to fund his treatment. We had enough to give him a chance.
Treatment began with the help of an amazing group of people, the treatment wasn’t easy, I cried a lot and Dave cried, but he improved daily, he gained weight, played and was a lively kitten again, it was a miracle really. Dave went into observation on Xmas eve but sadly relapsed 2 days later, he was sleeping a lot, not eating or playing, had no energy to even stand in his litter tray. I couldn’t believe it, I was so completely devastated. I had no money left to try to treat again, I couldn’t borrow anymore so a fundraiser was set up for another round of treatment. So far I’ve been lucky and had enough donations for 4 weeks of treatment but I’m unsure if I will be able to get him to the end without further help. I’ve tried everything I can to save this sweet boy and really don’t want to lose him.
We use a group fundraiser. Please write the name ( DAVE ) in comments on PayPal when donating to ensure it goes to ( DAVE ). Thank you.
