Little solid black as night Ben came into our would as a fourth adoption from our local humane society. It was told to us that “he had always been sickly”. Challenge accepted.Within a month and several vet visits , the congestion remained, his overall demeanor was becoming more withdrawn and depressed, and his eating habits started to wane. Then came the unmistakable inflation of his tummy, almost overnight. Ben’s vet felt a mass in his small intestines and suspected liver related fluid buildup in Ben’s abdomen. The veterinarian confirmed our suspicion of FIP via exploratory surgery. Because of the intestinal mass and a poor looking liver, we decided to let Ben pass over in his surgically induced sleep. The only silver lining in this sad tale is that, within weeks we had another young cat exhibit with swollen abdomen and were able to act with quickness in obtaining the help we needed from m FIP Warriors. Now the next story will have to tell will be of our FIP survivor, Bogey!
