View All FIP WarriorsWe adopted Arthur when he was 3 months old. He was just the sweetest boy. He was a treasure to us and his slightly older adopted sister Sadie. About 6 months after we adopted him, all of a sudden he stopped playing with Sadie, started hiding away and withdrawing and stopped grooming. He was a mess and we knew something was definitely wrong. He stopped eating but he looked fat.
After a visit to the vet, and then the emergency vet we found out he likely had FIP. We'd been around cats our entire lives (40's couple) but neither of us had heard of it. Emergency vet told us he was terminal and that was supposed to be that.
Our vet got his test results back and over the phone told us in a quiet way to research the FIP Warriors. Though I was already mourning him, and was suspicious of "miracle cures", Arthur's original foster mother told me it was legit. If there was hope, there was no way we going to let him go without a fight. From that moment Arthur became an FIP Warrior.
They got us in touch with a local who had extra GS meds, and we got started. It was hard at first. I'd never injected anything into anyone before. Watched some Youtubes and just went for it.
In days Arthur went from death's door to perking up a bit. Within two weeks he was his old self again. Running, playing, fighting with his sister over the coveted top spot on the cat tree. So we kept it up. 84 days of injections at the same time daily, with bloodwork done monthly to check progress. He was better than fine, just being a young cat.
84 more days post taking the shots he had a last bloodwork done and was deemed cured! The little dude made it! From death sentence to healthy in 6 months. Now he can live a full life, which will likely be long as he is indoors.
Long story short, FIP is no longer (even if officially) a death sentence. If you have the means (it does cost some coin) and the love to do the daily injections, you can save your fur buddy too!
Arthur's story isn't complete without a last huge shoutout to the FIP Warriors! They help you the whole way. They can help you get the meds, help with dosages, and just all around help with whatever you need. God bless all of them.
