FIP Warrior:

Edgar Allen Poe

We adopted a maincoon kitten that came to us kind of sick with an eye infection and bad diarrhea.
He was put on 4 different eye infection products including steroids and antibiotics when he was little he had to be on a lot of antibiotics. This caused him to get gingivitis.  Poor baby just can't win.  We worked through lots of different foods, even added pumpkin to help with his loose stool.  We finally found it found Hills Diet Prescription Biome.  It worked he was doing good but was still failure to thrive.  He was under weight and his growth was stunted.  Fast forward to almost his one year old birthday he started puking and refused to eat.  His belly was weird and squishy.
We got him to our vet who got us over to a
vet that could do his investigational surgery.
This was a last ditch effort they knew something was going on in his belly. They cut him from the bottom of his neck all the way down and what they found was very inflamed intestines that had fluid pockets all over his belly. The vet said it looked like wet Fip and they got biopsy samples to confirm.  Well it came back positive for wet Fip.  We worked with a company Max Paws and worked out a treatment plan which could save him from this fatal disease 🦠.  The plan was to give Edgar  shots for 84 days. Then Edgar went into 84 days of observation. He made it to just 13 days left of his observation when he began puking all over again and not wanting to eat!  The weight started dropping the 2 lbs he had gained.  We would really hate to give him 84 more shots it was brutal. We are taking him to the vet 8/27/2024 to run some labs to see if there's any indicators that it might be back. We love him and we will do whatever we can to help cure him.  I heard there are other options that may cure him.  We are going to look at all options this time.
