FIP Warrior:

Gwen

Gwenie girl was diagnosed with FIP when she was just a baby at around 7.5 months old. While on a weekend getaway, our kitty sitter messaged and told me that our girl hadn't been eating. I initially thought that maybe she was just missing us, but when I got back home I quickly realized that was not the case. Gwen had become extremely lethargic, had stopped eating/drinking, and was very unsteady on her feet. I immediately made her an appointment to see the vet. When we got to the vet, they took her back and gave her a good look over, provided IV fluids, and also did some x-rays but was unable to find anything wrong with our Gwenie girl. I then reached out to her foster mom (Patty) from which we adopted her from. Patty was quick to act and came to get Gwen and took her to a vet that she knew very well. After doing bloodwork, the vet realized there was definitely something not right. Gwen was diagnosed with FIP and immediately started injection treatments. Her foster mom Patty kept her through this part of the treatment. Once she was well enough and had done all her injection treatments, Gwen was able to come home to continue her treatment with oral medication. Gwen just finished up her oral treatment last week and is thriving! We are beyond thankful for Ms. Patty and the foster that she came from. Without them, we probably would have lost our Gwenie girl.
