View All FIP WarriorsOur sweet boy Norman is 9 months old. His symptoms started to appear in December of 2023. It was only his right eye. It looked like an ulceration on his cornea so he was treated with antibiotics. After a week of treatment he seemed to recover. In the weeks to follow, Norman would go on to present with malaise, poor eating, and had developed what looked like a ruptured blood vessel in his left eye and appeared to have some ataxia in his left front leg. Our vet recognized it right away , drawing blood work and educating us on FIP. She told us the difference between dry and wet FIP. Said we would discuss more when his labs came back the next morning. She wanted to be sure it wasn’t something crazy like FIV or Feline leukemia on a fluke, even though he had tested negative at the time we rescued and adopted Norman for a local humane society. When we got the call the next morning that this was definitely Dry Neuro Ocular FIP She explained our options and what it meant for Norman if we opted not to treat him. We were devastated. Then she told us about the FIP warriors Club. She sent us to their Facebook page and once we were accepted to the group, she instructed us to send a message or post a question and that once that occurred, the warriors would take it from there. She offered a supportive roll since she could not prescribe or administer the treatment because it wasn’t licensed in the United States by the FDA. Working with the FIP warriors was going to be the only way our sweet boy would have a chance at life 💔 My husband and I discussed things and told the group yes, we were open to treatment for Norman , that was at 4p Friday night. By 5:30p that same day we had chosen a brand and the administrator along with our treatment team had already developed a plan with dosages of our GS of choice , relaying other necessary supportive care required (such as labs and supplements ) full with signs and symptoms of things to look for that could be adverse. They connected us with people to help us get emergency dosages of GS so treatment could start immediately, until Norman’s medication could be ordered and received. By 7:30pm that same Friday, we had already given Norman his first GS injection. Now, only 4 days into treatment , Norman is already showing positive signs of progress. He has more energy, is eating more. His eyes are already starting to clear , with less edema, less milky color, and less redness from vasculitis. He is actually starting to play some. He was 5lbs 4ozs at 9 months old, and weighing him today, he’s gained 5ozs in 4 days, weighing in at 5lbs 9ozs. All of this in just 4 days. Norman has 80 more days of treatment, it’s rigorous , but our sweet boy is more than worth every bit of it!! We found hope with the assistance of FIP warriors when there was none. The amount of support and care we have has filled us with so much hope for a cure for Norman. THANK YOU FIP warriors for everything you do!! We will forever be grateful for you !! ❤️
