I found Rumbles and his 4 siblings in my house a few weeks after a bad house fire destroyed the inside of my house. They couldn't have been more than 2 weeks old and I couldn't locate mom and definitely couldn't leave them there in that environment, so I hand raised them and they thrived. All 5 came down with a nasty URI not long ago, and Rumbles was the unlucky one. He developed neurological symptoms quickly; he stopped being able to walk, eat, even see or hear at first. The first night I found him like thar I syringe fed him food and water, he started coming around and his eyes cleared up, and got him to the vet the next morning. Poor little man lost alot of weight and he had to get fluids, meds, and supportive care, but we were unable to do any blood work because he was too weak to give any. The vet then let me know she'd seen several cases of neuro FIP over the last year just like Rumbles, but we couldn't be sure until we did manage to get some blood drawn. After I left the vets office, I remember reading about the FIP warriors group and decided to reach out to at the very least get information for the next visit. I received a very quick response and we decided to move forward on treatment and not waste any time. I had meds the very next day, and within 8 hours of his first dose, Rumbles was much more alert, he was wobbling around and playing with one of his brothers best he could. In 48 hours he was walking so much better and is making amazing progress. The biggest challenge is going to be cost, as I'm also in the middle of rebuilding my house, caring for all my cats, temp housing and a state to state move for my partner and daughter to come stay with me. If anyone is able to help, Rumbles and I will be eternally grateful. He's a very special boy who deserves the best, and at only 4 months old, has years and years of joy left to live.
